About 6 months ago on the return from the Longest Day Ride, my rear tyre let go after 1600km riding. It came as a surprise because in all the tyre only had about 1800km on it. So here I was in the middle of nowhere on the edge of a desert with a hole in my rear tyre that I could push my thumb through, 2 spare tubes and 250km of dirt road til the next town where I may possibly be able to buy a new rear tyre.. Changing the tube, cutting a sleeve from the old tube and putting it all back together in 40degC heat was no fun. I'm pretty sure I won't be using this type of tyre on the Tenere again.
